I never thought I would write this, but I’m endorsing Mike McGraw for Mayor of the City of North Vancouver. And yes, I’m a little surprised myself. … In his candidate statement on the City’s election… website, McGraw says he does not accept developer donations. He also promises regular opportunities to meet the mayor throughout his term and meaningful public input before decisions are made. Those commitments helped earn my endorsement. … We don’t have to share every political label to agree on responsible spending, decent services, respect for city workers and a City Hall that listens. I believe there is enough common ground here to earn my support. … I encourage you to support Mike McGraw for mayor.

I’ve known Mike McGraw for over 20 years, since our kids played football together at Handsworth. Since then, I’ve watched him thrive as a successful entrepreneur, have a wonderful family life with… lots of fun vacations and successful adult children, and serve with dedication as an elected school trustee. Trust is the foundation of leadership, and Mike shows it through savvy financial decision-making, true collaboration and patient listening. He loves North Vancouver and will be a great Mayor.

I’ve been involved in North Vancouver community issues for more than 30 years — protecting parks, advocating for meaningful public input and working to make our city a better place to live. Over the… past several months, I’ve had many conversations with Mike McGraw about the challenges facing our city. What has impressed me most is that Mike listens. He asks questions, considers different viewpoints and understands that City Hall belongs to the people who live here. The next four years will bring major decisions about growth, parks, renters, traffic, infrastructure and how we spend public money. I strongly believe Mike can help bring City Hall back to the community — with residents heard, taxpayers respected and North Vancouver’s future carefully planned. That is why I am proud to endorse Mike McGraw for Mayor.

I met Mike over 10 years ago when we were volunteering on a North Van community board. Mike is one of the most emotionally intelligent leaders I’ve met. When he says his plan is to show up, listen… and lead; I have no doubt that is exactly what he will do. He will be an outstanding Mayor for the CNV!

Mike demonstrates strong leadership through his integrity, responsiveness, and proactive approach to problem-solving. He has a remarkable ability to delegate responsibilities appropriately while… maintaining accountability through diligent follow-up, resulting in effective governance and positive outcomes for our community.

I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Mike in action as President of our condo’s Strata Council, and I’ve been consistently impressed by his leadership. He is exceptionally responsive, organized, and… task-oriented. When an issue comes up, he takes it seriously, follows through in a timely manner, and works diligently to find practical and fair solutions. Just as importantly, he believes in being transparent and keeping people informed. I know I can trust Mike to listen, consider different perspectives, and make thoughtful decisions with the best interests of our community in mind. He is a driven leader who truly cares about our building and the people who live here. His commitment, accessibility, fairness, and ability to get things done have made a real difference, and I’m extremely appreciative of the time, effort, and dedication Mike has put into our building and the people who call it home. Knowing Mike and seeing how he leads, I can only imagine the positive impact he could have in a larger role serving North Vancouver.

Mike has been the chair of the Strata Council where I own a condo. He would do an excellent job as Mayor of North Vancouver. As a member of the board I have seen over a few years how hard Mike works… and how committed he is to getting things successfully accomplished. Mike is respectful of others and understands governance processes very well. I have felt extremely fortunate that Mike was chair of our board and I have great confidence he would bring those same skills to the role of Mayor.

I’ve known Mike McGraw for about 20 years, first as a customer at my business, then socially. Over the years I’ve seen how measured, smart, and thoughtful he is, and how well he listens. He served on… the CNV school board, and now that he’s retired from his business, he’s back and focused on fixing this city’s issues, economic and otherwise. You can count on him to bring some real common sense to City governance, which has been sorely lacking for a long time. I like Mike very much. He’s a stickler for detail, process, and rules, and one of the most trustworthy people I’ve ever met.
